CHAPTER 4
Logan, more readily known as Wolverine, smelled the three coming
before he saw them. His hightened senses picked them up quickly.
"So where are you three goin'," he asked when Hank, Ororo, and Remy came up to the front door.
"Huntin'. Care ta join us?" Remy grinned and pulled out the front door before Wolverine could answer.
"Mind tellin' me what it is yer after?" he turned the question to Storm and Beast.
"We believe that something has attacked Remy," Ororo replied. "We have decided to try and find who or what it was."
"So why don't ya just ask the Cajun who it was?"
"Because he doesn't know." With that, Storm walked out the front entrance after Gambit.Logan turned to look at Hank, who just shrugged and followed Storm.
"Hmmph. This trip sounds like it could be fun." Loagn smiled too himself. Perhaps tonight wouldn't be as uneventful as he had first thought.

Alex sat up in his bed, stretching his arms above his head to work out the stiffness that sleep had brought. He glanced around his room, checking every detail in his mind as he always did. It was a safety precaution as much as it was a habit. If anything had been moved whil he had slept, he would notice. If anyone had trespassed in his room, he would see it. But everything was as it should be.
The large window in the far left wall had been boarded shut long ago, keeping out any and all sunlight that might have tried to enter the room. The boards were partially obscured with deep blue silk curtains. The four-poster bed he slept in had matching silk covers. A large fireplace lay against the wall in front of him. Unuse had caused several inches of dust to accumulate on the grate inside.
Alex yawned and pulled himself out of the bed. He smiled to himself at how much more comfortable it was compared to a traditional coffin. Alex never had been much of one for tradition. Conformatism was so boring.
There was something important he had to do tonight. He had to check the son of an old friend. He smiled to himself again. It had been a ong time since Alex had met anyone with as much free spirit and strong will as LeBeau had. But he supposed he should expect no less from any son of Minuette.
He would need Robin to help him find LeBeau. She had been managing to keep tabs on him, despite the tremendous amount a psychic interference he was putting out. Alex wasn't sure he if he should commend LeBeau for being strong enough to confuse Robin, or Commend Robin for the expert use of her powers. Every vampire had some sort of power. Strange, he thought. Vampires were so much like mutants. With a strange eray of powers to their name. But vampires were so much more quiet about their goings-on.
Alex pushed the thoughts away. He had a job to do. He had to protect
Min's son as well as stay within the rules of the Covenant. He had to bring
back a half blooded vampire to the Covenant, and that was what he planned
to do.
