Story Archive

All right, check this shizznit out. All the fiction you see below you is called "fanfiction." For those of you who don't know what fanfiction is, I bet you're expecting to see an explanation, aren't you? Well, ha.

Okay, I'll play the game. Fanfiction is fiction written by fans, as most of you were probably able to cleverly deduce. More often than not, it's using characters someone else has already made. Needless to say, we do not rival the copyrights of anyone else, nor are we making any money off this hobby.

  We're still damn good, though.

Anyway, I'll stop talking and let everyone else take care of that for now.

Spade

Spade, for one, is one of my personal friends. Number two, she's the best amateur artist I've ever seen, bar none. Number three, she's also one of the more respected underground fanfic writers. She also probably has more on here than I do.

Return - According to Spade, this is her first real fanfic, from back in 1996. This is probably the first fanfic I read, and is partly responsible for my ass being in fic. It's an AU about Gambit's origins.  ...so why are vampires involved?

Alternate Reality: Gambit - Man, she DOES have the best titles. <grin> Another Alternate Universe story starring Gambit, and his slightly different journey to the X-Men. This one's damn good, people.

The Boundary - Still in progress, this is her latest X-fic. Gambit and Angel get thrown into a world which one wouldn't think would exist. They're a bit more correct than they think... A great blend of original characters and her usual perfect characterization.

Spotlight for October 30, 2000

Pilot Revenge - The latest, also-in-progress fic from Spade. A Gundam Wing fic, it features Duo Maxwell fighting on (in a badass new Gundam, too!) after the other four Gundam pilots have been killed. Eh, the story's a helluva lot better than my description of it is. Go read it.

Laersyn

Ah, Laersyn. One of the darkest and most disturbing fic writers. he's also largely responsible for the emergence of the Chainsaw as a feared and satanic weapon in any Round Robin stories we put on. Writer of the famed Devil's Due series, and creator of a good many nightmares.

Reckoning - An altercation and some unfortunate events lead to the city of New York executing its first mutant. Features Cannonball and Marrow as focal characters. In two parts, completed. One of OTL's former features of the month.

Falstaff

Falstaff's one of my personal "respected elders" of the fic community for his writing and mannerisms in the chat. So I felt pretty honored to get permission to have one of his stories on here.

Cellmates - What if Operation: Zero Tolerance was successful? What if Bastion was nearly flawles in his direction of it? What if Xavier was captured, and was roomed with someone that he knew all too well?

Lori McDonald & Valerie Jones

Two of the most famed and highly-held writers in fic, Lori ran one of the largest X-fic archives until recently, and Valerie was one of the more prolific and talented writers. They combined on a story that I'm fortunate enough to have here.

Thick As Thieves - An incredibly large, long, and incredible story cowritten between these two. Bobby convinces Gambit to train him as a thief so Bobby can meet a girl, which is only the beginning.

Kielle

The Scribe, Kielle started the hub site for comic fanfiction, CFAN, and currently links over 500 web sites. She's also a very respected writer and MiSTer, and we have two of the all-time best here.

X-MST3K - Andrew Vincent's self-insertion into the X-Men was an incredibly painful story to read. Luckily, Mike, Tom, and Crow share our pain for this one.

X2-MST3K - The sequel to Andrew Vincent's X. All together now - AHHHHHHHH!

Yona

Yona's been one of my steady online friends, and even though she doesn't havea lot of time at college to write any fic, the fic that she does put out tends to be more than just fairly good. She's also a damned fine poet.

It's Time To Go - Yona gives a poignant and powerful account of an emotional suicide, with Neil Gaiman's Delerium, Death, and Despair keeping the vigil over the wayward soul. A very strong piece.

Poi Lass

Poi Lass is someone I hardly know, but she's definitely got a talent for characterization, especially the simple interaction between characters. Her style may be a bit unusual, but she's good at it.

First, Do No Harm - An absolutely wonderful story featuring Bobby trying to pull Hank out of his self-imposed solitude after a horrible accident.

Jesse N. Willey

Jesse Willey is one of the oddest people to ever write a piece of Subreality fic. In fact, he probably IS the oddest. He's also a rather decent fellow when it comes down to it, and the selection of his on here reflects that.

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend - An oddly disconcerting look inside Willey's head and the personas that make it up.

Jim R. McBriarty

Jim holds the distinction in my mind of writing the longest epic starring an original character without having it become a blatant Mary Sue and turn off readers. He also has the distinction of writing the longest currently-run epic that I've attempted to read.

The Archetype Association - An insanely long still-in-progress fic about an original character joining the X-Men. Gt some food and get comfortable before reading this one. It's long. I mean, loooooooooooooooooooooong.
